Bowie Baysox News Release
Richmond, VA - The Baysox saw a five-run lead nearly escape their grasps but hung on before the rains came in a six-inning, rain-shortened 6-5 win in Richmond.
After a 90-minute rain delay began the proceedings, the Baysox found themselves hanging on with impending rain in the future near the 11-o'clock hour. Richmond had rallied for three runs in the fifth inning to cut Bowie's lead to 6-4 and here they were knocking on the door again.
The score was 6-5 and runners were at the corners with one down as Baysox reliever Tanner Chleborad bared down. He struck out Aramis Garcia on a slider for the second out and got Caleb Gindl to fly out to right to end the inning. And then the skies opened.
The Baysox got off to a great start. In the first Ryan McKenna worked a walk in an eight-pitch at-bat. He then went first to third on a flare single to left field by Corban Joseph. He would score on a SAC fly to right field from Aderlin Rodriguez to open the scoring. Ryan Mountcastle then drove a triple deep down the line in right field just inside the foul pole to push home a second run home.
The Baysox had two-out magic throughout. They got an RBI-single from Anderson Feliz to lead 3-0 in the third. And in the fourth inning Corban Joseph plated two with a base hit to right field to lead 5-1.
Bowie now gets set for a doubleheader tomorrow evening in Richmond beginning at 5:05 p.m.Coverage begins 20-minutes prior on baysox.com, wnav.com and via the MILB, Tune-In and WNAV Apps. After Orioles Baseball the broadcast will also be heard on 1430-AM WNAV and 99.9 FM in Annapolis.
The Baysox return home Monday, June 25th for a four-game series with Akron. Get tickets over phone at 301-464-4865 or online at baysox.com.
