Banks and Evans Named CFL Top Performers of the Month for October

The Canadian Football League announced Thursday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Brandon Banks and quarterback Dane Evans have been named CFL Top Performers of the Month for October.

Banks, 31, led the CFL in targets (35), receptions, (26) and receiving touchdowns (5), and was second in receiving yards (398) in October despite playing in only three games during the month. The 5-7, 150-pound receiver registered career highs in receiving yards (201) and receiving touchdowns (3) with a season-high 11 receptions in Hamilton's 38-26 road win Saturday October 26 against Montreal.

Banks currently leads all CFL receivers this season in receptions (112), receiving yards (1,550) and receiving touchdowns (13). His 112 receptions is a Tiger-Cats single-season franchise record. This is Banks' second Top Performer of the Month nomination this season (June, October).

Evans, 25, completed 85-of-109 passing attempts (78.0%) for 1,108 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns over three games in October. The 6-1, 218-pound native of Sanger, Texas is currently third in the CFL in passing touchdowns (21) and sixth in passing yards (3,754) despite starting just 11 games this season. He has led Hamilton to five consecutive wins, including three in October, and is 9-2 as a starter in 2019. Evans has been named a CFL Top Performer of the Month twice this season (September, October).

Calgary's Bo Levi Mitchell, second in voting, joins Banks (1st) and Evans (3rd) as this week's CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
