Bandits Walk off to Win Sixth Straight

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The River Bandits won their sixth straight game by beating the Beloit Snappers, 6-5, on Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park. Josh Rojas' ninth inning single walked it off for Quad Cities.
For the second straight day, the Bandits (28-15, 65-46) scored five runs in the third inning. Chuckie Robinson's two-run homer started the scoring of off Xavier Altamirano. An RBI double from Daz Cameron made it 3-0 Bandits. Josh Rojas hit a sacrifice fly and Luis Payano's RBI single made 5-0. The Snappers (24-18, 56-55) bounced back for three runs in the top of the fourth. Kyle Nowlin's RBI single cut the Bandits lead to four. Edwin Diaz grounded out to second to make it 5-2 then Miguel Mercedes blooped a single to left to complete the three-run inning. With two outs in the ninth, JaVon Shelby singled to tie the game, 5-5. In the bottom of the ninth, Rojas' single hugged the left field line to score Troy Sieber from second base.
Abdiel Saldana worked into the sixth inning in his fifth consecutive start. Saldana tossed six innings, yielding three runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking one in a no-decision. Devon Carr hurled two scoreless relief innings. Carr struck out the side in the seventh, part of a five-strikeout outing. Despite blowing the save in the ninth, Jesus Balaguer earned the win, his second of the year. Ty Damron allowed the game-winning run for Beloit. Damron (3-5) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits.
