Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Beloit, WI - The Quad Cities River Bandits scored three runs in the fourth inning and made them hold up as they escaped Pohlman Field with a 3-2 win on Friday night. The victory was the fourth in a row for the River Bandits who remain in first place in the Western Division.
The Bandits were the first team to reach the scoreboard, doing so in the top of the fourth. Miguelangel Sierra started the inning with a single and was quickly joined on base by Jake Adams who worked a walk. Corey Julks plated both of the runners with a booming double off of the wall in left field. The next hitter, Cody Bohanek, drove in Julks with a groundball single that snuck by the diving third baseman Jesus Lopez. Bohanek's hit gave the Bandits a 3-0 lead.
Beloit scored their first run in the bottom of the same inning. Austin Beck led off by working a walk off of Bandits starter Cesar Rosado and then raced to third on Hunter Hargrove's double. Logan Farrar followed with a sacrifice fly to trim the lead to 3-1.
That score held until the bottom of the ninth. Patrick Sandoval got the first out, but was replaced by Carlos Sanabria after an error on Miguelangel Sierra. Sanabria struck out Lazaro Armenteros before allowing a double into the left field corner by Austin Beck. Trace Loehr scored on the play and, suddenly, the tying run was in scoring position. However, in the next at bat, Hargrove popped up to center field to end the game.
Rosado worked 4.0 innings and allowed one run on three hits, striking out four and walking four. Sandoval picked up the win after throwing 4.1 innings and allowing just one unearned run on five hits with four strikeouts. Sanabria earned the save by throwing the final 0.2 innings and striking out one while surrendering one hit.
The River Bandits closed the game with seven hits. Sierra, Julks, and Bohanek each finished with two. Julks has four runs batted in over the last two games.
The River Bandits (23-17) and Snappers (16-20) will resume the weekend series with game two Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. RHP Peter Solomon (1-1, 2.55) gets the nod for the River Bandits while RHP Jean Ruiz (0-2, 5.19) will work for the Snappers.
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
