Bandits Acquire Mark Steenhuis

Buffalo Bandits News Release
The Buffalo Bandits announce today that they have acquired Mark Steenhuis from the Columbus Landsharks in exchange for Ken Montour and Buffalo's third round draft choice in next year's National Lacrosse League's Entry Draft.
Last year was Steenhuis' rookie season in the NLL. In 12 games for the Landsharks the forward netted 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points. A native of St.Catharines, Ontario, Steenhuis played for the St. Catharines Athletics in the OLA over the summer. Steenhuis was the leading scorer on the Athletics scoring 50 points (20+30) in 19 games and was voted co-rookie-of-the-year.
"Mark is an up and coming player with great potential," said Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott. "He plays with great resolve and will certainly compete for a stating spot on our right side."
The Bandits also resigned Peter Tavares to a one-year contract. Tavares has been on the Bandits practice squad for the last three seasons. He has yet to play in any NLL games.
"Peter has been improving each year that he's been with us," said Silcott "I know it's frustrating for both Peter and the fans but it looks like this may be the year that Peter gets some game action and will show the fans that he's a solid player."
The Bandits also signed veteran net-minder Corey Quinn to replace Montour. "Corey is a savvy veteran net-minder who will relieve Steve Dietrich when needed," said Silcott. "He is not a flashy goaltender but he gets the job done."
Buffalo will continue training camp at the Lakemount Sportsplex in Grimsby, Ontario. The team practices every Tuesday at 6:30 PM and the practices are open to the public.
The Bandits will open the season on January 4 against the Albany Attack. Face off is set for 7:00 PM. Season tickets for the Bandits are on sale now at the HSBC Arena. Please call (716) 855-4444 ext. 82 to get your seats today.
