Reno 1868 FC scored first for the second match in a row. Before Tuesday, Reno had not scored first since August 3 at Rio Grande Valley, a 2-1 win.
Forward Corey Hertzog's 20th minute goal was his 14th of the season, tying a career high set in 2017 with Pittsburgh. Hertzog has already set a career high for the season with six assists.
Hertzog's goal came off a penalty, his second converted penalty of the season.
Daniel Musovski's 43rd minute goal would be Musovski's seventh in the last three matches. The goal adds onto his career-high goals in one season, bringing the total to 10.
Musovski's score was assisted on by midfielder Sam Gleadle, his fourth of the season.
Recent signing Ivan Valencia made his debut for Reno 1868 FC, subbing in for Danny Musovski in the 80th minute.
Reno moves to 15-9-5 overall, and 7-5-0 when outshot by their opponent.
The win, paired with a Fresno loss moves Reno into second in the USL's Western Conference.
Reno's defense surrendered just one shot on target, the goal in the 41st minute. Austin earned 18 shots in the second half, but none on target.
