Lexington Legends News Release

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Augusta GreenJackets tied the game with two outs in the ninth inning on Rafael Rodriguez' triple, and then exploded for six runs in the 10th and defeated the Lexington Legends 12-6 in 10 innings Saturday night.

Augusta scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Legends answered with four in the bottom of third, two scoring on a triple by Raul Mondesi. Bubba Starling's two-run single in the fourth extended the Legends' lead to 6-1.

Augusta began its comeback in the fifth when Trevor Brown led off with a home run, and the GreenJackets added two more in the sixth. A walk to Shayne Houck, a passed ball and a base hit by Mitch Delfino produced one run. A walk and a wild pitch moved Delfino to third, from where he scored on a ground out by Rodriguez, leaving the score at 6-4.

Matt Duffy and Houck singled to start the top of the ninth. Delfino struck out, but Ben Turner's sacrifice fly pulled Augusta to within a run at 6-5. Rodriguez then sent a drive to the wall in left center field, scoring pinch runner Andrew Cain with the tying run. Brown grounded out to end the inning, leaving Rodriguez stranded at third.

In the 10th, Chuckie Jones led off with a walk and Eric Sim was hit by a pitch. Jesus Galindo sacrificed the runners to second and third, and Duffy was intentionally walked, loading the bases. Cain, who remained in the game after pinch-running, drove in all three runners with a double down the left field line.

Delfino followed with a two-run homer, driving in his fourth run of the game and his 10th in the last two games, and the GreenJackets led 11-6.

Turner singled, Rodriguez walked, and Brown delivered the final Augusta run with a single.

Mason McVay (1-0), who entered the game in the ninth, got the win. Ali Williams (1-1) took the loss. Augusta has won the first two games of the series, which continues Sunday. Game time is 1:35 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
