Moncton Wildcats News Release

An additional 586 fans will give the Moncton Wildcats an all time regular season attendance record. With 5202 already booked for Thursday's game at the Coliseum against the PEI Rocket, the Wildcats are confident the record will fall at the team's 33rd home game this year.

So far this season 182,772 spectators have attended the 32 Wildcats home games for an average of 5712. The previous best attendance was during the 1996-97 season when 188,560 fans attended.

"This is a major achievement for the franchise in our 10th Anniversary year," said Wildcats General Manager Bill Schurman. "We know the previous record will be broken and we are now confident that it will happen on Thursday night."

Schurman noted that the Wildcats hosting of the Memorial Cup and the team's performance under Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Ted Nolan, have had a significant impact at the gate. "The team has been near or at the top of standings in the division for most of the season along with being rated best in the country for a six week period and fans support a winning team," he said.

To celebrate the achievement, fans in all sections of the Moncton Coliseum will have a chance to win a pair of complimentary tickets to the first round of the playoffs. "We'll be making random draws in each section throughout the game and announcing the winners immediately," said Jeanne Watson, the Wildcats Direction of Sales and Marketing.

A Thursday night victory by the Wildcats would assure them of the Eastern Division Championship in the Quebec Major Hockey League. It would mark the second time Moncton has won a divisional championship; the other was during the 1999-2000 season when they captured the Maritime Division title in the Frank Dilio Conference in the final game of the season.
