Atlanta Beat travel to West Palm Beach for Mother's Day match

May 7, 2011 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) - Atlanta Beat News Release

KENNESAW, GA - The Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer travel for a second straight weekend as they face magicJack (formerly the Washington Freedom) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) on Sunday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m.

After an encouraging 2-2 tie against the Western New York Flash (WNY) on April 24, the Beat suffered a tough loss to that same opponent on Sunday, May 1. The Beat now sit in the middle of the WPS table with four points. This week's opponent, magicJack sit tied at six points with the Boston Breakers after back-to-back wins in WPS Weeks Five and Six.

Atlanta Beat midfielder India Trotter will compete on a very familiar pitch as she revisits the magicJack home field. Trotter, a native of Plantation, Fl., spent much of her youth career playing in this venue and notes that the Beat will have a few adjustments to make on a much narrower field.

Players from each side will face-off against their former clubs when Beat defender Cat Whitehill meets her former Freedom franchise and magicJack's Johann Rasmussen, Tina Ellertson, Brett Maron, and Hope Solo challenge their former Beat.
