Argos Bring Back WR Noel; Add RB Marcus Thigpen & WR Kolton Nelson

TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts announced today the club has signed Canadian WR Llevi Noel, American RB Marcus Thigpen and Canadian WR Kolton Nelson.

Noel, 28, is coming off his fourth season in Toronto after posting 35 catches for 259 yards and one touchdown in 2019. The Toronto native was also second on the team in special teams tackles with 21. The 6'2, 210-pound receiver was drafted by the Double Blue in the fourth round of the 2016 CFL Draft and has amassed 79 receptions for 829 yards, four touchdowns and added 78 special teams tackles in 70 career games.

Thigpen, 33, played 18 games for Saskatchewan last season, his third year with the 'Riders (2017-2019), tallying 201 rush yards, 26 catches for 161 receiving yards, 640 total return yards and five total touchdowns. The 5'9, 195-pound swiss army knife spent four seasons in the NFL (2012-2015) before his stint with Saskatchewan, playing a total of 50 games over that span for Buffalo, Oakland, Tampa Bay and Miami, including back-to-back 16 game seasons for the Dolphins in 2012 and 2013. Thigpen recorded over 2,500 kick return yards and 919 punt return yards with two return touchdowns in his NFL career. The Detroit native first made his mark in the CFL in 2010 after being signed by Hamilton and spent two seasons with the Ticats, where he became the first player in CFL history to score a touchdown five different ways in one season (receiving, rushing, punt return, kick return and missed field goal return) when he accomplished the feat in 2010. The Indiana University alum was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 and also spent time with the Denver Broncos that same offseason.

Nelson, 6'1 and 205-pounds, played rugby at Lindenwood University in Missouri for four years before becoming a pro rugby player for the Eastern Suburbs Union Football Club in Australia. The 27-year old was born in Edmonton but went to high school in Bixby, Oklahoma here he played on both sides of the ball in football. Nelson is the son of current Argos special teams coordinator Mark Nelson and brother of San Francisco 49ers long snapper Kyle Nelson.
