AquaSox Split Series with Dust Devils, 4-3

McAfee Pitches Four Scoreless Innings in Start

Everett, WA - The Everett AquaSox (12-12) fell to the Tri-City Dust Devils (14-10) in the last game of the four-game series, 4-3 on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Frogs pitcher Brian McAfee kept the Dust Devils scoreless the first four innings while allowing only one hit and recording four strikeouts.

Juan Camacho doubled on a ball to right center in the second inning but was left stranded. Tri-City went scoreless on 1-2-3 innings in the second and third. The Everett AquaSox left Chris Torres was also stranded in the bottom half of the third.

The Frogs loaded the bases to start of the fourth on a Greifer Andrade single, Onil Pena walk and Camacho single. With one out, Andrade crossed home plate on a Aaron Stroosma groundout, giving the Frogs the first run of the game, 1-0.

The Dust Devils snatched the lead when McAfee allowed two runners on in the fifth before Tyler Benson hit a two-out two-run line drive, 2-1.

Relief pitcher Chris Castellanos threw three strikeouts in the sixth however, Tri-City extended their lead by one run during a pickoff attempt at second base, 3-1.

The Sox put two runners in scoring position to start off the seventh on a Stroosma walk and Jansiel Rivera double. Joe Venturino clubbed the ball up the middle for a clutch two-run single, tying the game at 3.

The Dust Devils scored a run off relief pitcher Adonis De la Cruz to give Tri-City the lead in the eighth inning, 4-3.

De la Cruz worked an easy inning by the way of two flyouts and a fielder's choice groundout at second in the top of the ninth. The Everett AquaSox were unable to score in the ninth, leaving Rivera stranded at first. The Sox lose to Dust Devils, 4-3 and split the series.

The Sox will return to Everett Memorial Stadium next week on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at 7:05 PM to take on the Vancouver Canadians for Wing Wednesday and a Billy Mac book signing. Group tickets, family outings and ticket packages are available for Wednesday night's game! For tickets visit
