ICYMI: Keston Hiura broke a 1-1 tie in the ninth with a game winning, bases loaded single to right as the Mudcats defeated the Pelicans 2-1 in walk-off fashion on Wednesday afternoon at Five County Stadium. The walk-off victory was Carolina's first of the season and came in front of an Education Day crowd of 5,688 in Zebulon.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Keston Hiura's walk-off single in the ninth yesterday gave the Mudcats their first walk-off win of the season and drove in Carolina's first run scored in the ninth inning of a game this year. The Mudcats have allowed 11 runs in the ninth overall this year, but have scored just once. Overall, the Mudcats have been outscored 38-15 between the seventh and 10th innings this year.

VS. PELICANS: The Mudcats and Pelicans conclude a three game series today at Five County Stadium with a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Mudcats won yesterday's series opener and lead the series 1-0... Carolina went 13-8 versus Myrtle Beach last season, with nearly half of those wins coming over the final seven games between the two teams. The Mudcats went 6-1 to close out the 2017 season against Myrtle Beach, including a four game sweep at home last September.

MUDCATS STARTER(S): Left-hander Cam Roegner and righty Conor Harber get the starting assignments in games one and two respectively of tonight's doubleheader... Roegner enters game one of tonight's twin bill at 1-0 with a 1.15 ERA (15.2 IP, 6 BB, 16 SO) over three starts so far this season. He last pitched on 4/19 vs. Buies Creek and was forced out of the game early after reaching 79 pitches over 2.2 innings pitched. He left with the bags loaded and ended up allowing two runs on five hits in what was his shortest start of the year... Harber last pitched on 4/20 vs. Buies Creek and worked through 3.0 innings with one run allowed on three hits. He also struck out a season high seven batters and has totaled 19 strikeouts over 14.0 innings (4 G, 1 GS) so far this season. His last start came in game two of a doubleheader on 4/8 vs. Winston-Salem (4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 SO).

OPP STARTER(S): Lefty Jose Paulino and right-hander Tyson Miller get the games one and two starts in tonight's doubleheader for the Pelicans... Paulino is currently 0-2 with a 9.69 ERA (13.0 IP, 8 BB, 12 SO) over three starts this season. He took the loss his last time out after allowing nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits over 6.0 innings on 4/18 at Buies Creek. Opponents are batting .339 against Paulino so far this year... Miller enters tonight's outing at 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA (14.0 IP, 6 BB, 19 SO) over three starts. He last pitched on 4/19 against the Wood Ducks and suffered his second straight loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits over 6.0 innings.

TEAM K/BB%: Overall the Carolina offense has totaled a 26.9 K% (2nd highest in the CL) and 11.2 BB% (5th in the CL) this season. The Mudcats are currently one of six teams in all of MiLB with at least a 26% strikeout rate and at least a 10% walk rate this season. Rancho Cucamonga (K: 28.6%, BB: 10.1%), Charlotte (K: 27.7%, BB: 10.5%), El Paso (K: 27.1%, BB: 10.0%), Carolina, Kane County (K: 26.8%, BB: 11.6%), Portland (K: 26.4%, BB: 11.1%), Great Lakes (K: 26.3%, BB: 11.2%)

P.O.W.: Ryan Aguilar was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on April 22. Aguilar led the CL in AVG, OBP and OPS over the last week of games. In all, he went 8-for-15 with a double, a triple, four RBI and five walks while hitting .533/.667/.733 and totaling a 1.400 OPS over five games during the last week of play.

WHERE THEY RANK: Trey Supak (0.90) and Cam Roegner (1.15) rank 3rd and 5th respectively in lowest earned run average in the Carolina League this season... Luke Barker is currently 3rd in the CL in lowest BB/9ip (0.61) and 4th in fewest baserunners/9ip (5.52)... Conor Harber is currently 3rd in the CL in highest SO/9ip ratio (14.40)... Tucker Neuhaus is 3rd in the CL in most strikeouts (28)... Max McDowell leads CL catchers in most caught steals (14) and caught stealing efficiency (.519).

STAFF SPLITS: The Carolina starting rotation is currently 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA during the current home stand (16 SO, 13 BB). The starters opened the season going 4-4 with a 2.93 ERA (63 SO, 47 BB) during the first home stand and then combined to go 1-1 with a 1.82 ERA (24 SO, 18 BB) during the first road trip (4/12 and 4/18). The Carolina bullpen, conversely, is 1-2-1 with a 3.33 ERA (28 SO, 13 BB, .198 AVG) during the current home stand. They combined to go 4-1-3 with a 4.91 ERA (30 SO, 18 BB, .261 AVG) during the season opening home stand and 1-2-3 with a 5.81 ERA (27 SO, 20 BB, .282 AVG) during the first road trip.

ALUMNI REPORT: Corbin Burnes (2017) allowed eight earned runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings in his start last night for Triple-A Colorado Springs. Burnes also walked four and struck out two. Burnes is currently 0-0 with a 11.88 ERA (8.1 IP, .405 AVG) over two starts at hitter friendly Security Service Field in Colorado Springs. He is also 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA (12.1 IP, .186 AVG) over two starts on the road in Triple-A this season.
