Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - The Buffalo Bisons had an immediate answer for the Syracuse Mets at almost every turn on Friday night at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. The Herd erased early deficits of 3-0 and 4-3, riding their red-hot lineup to a 10-6 win as they scored in double-digits for the third time in winning four straight to open the series.

With Anthony Kay making his return to Triple-A, the Bisons found themselves down early when Mason Williams tagged a home run off the video board in right center two batters into the ballgame. The lead quickly grew to 3-0 in the second on a single from Cesar Puello and a sacrifice fly from Albert Almora Jr., but Kay finished his night with an 11-pitch third. In the home half, the Bisons tied the score on an opposite field three-run homer from Logan Warmoth off lefthander Josh Walker in his Triple-A debut.

Syracuse went back in front against Tyler Chatwood in the top of the fifth with three singles, including one from catcher Patrick Mazeika, that broke the 3-3 tie. Walker had a chance to put himself in line for the win, but surrendered a leadoff single to Nash Knight to put the tying run aboard. A Warmoth single and a two-RBI double from Tyler White gave the Herd a 5-4 advantage and Christian Colon tacked on another run with a single. Riley Adams terrific series continued with a double into the left field corner that plated two more, pushing the lead to 8-4 as both teams went deep into the bullpens to finish the game.

In the seventh, the Mets scored an unearned run during Kirby Snead's second inning of relief on two walks, an error, and a passed ball. The Bisons immediate answer came in the bottom of the inning against A.J. Schugel on Adams' second double and a single from Richard Urena that completed the run of all nine in the lineup finishing with a hit. The teams traded runs again in the eighth on a Puello leadoff home run and a Cullen Large groundout that scored Kevin Smith after he walked and went first to third on a stolen base and wild pitch.

The Bisons continue their final homestand at Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Saturday, July 22 at 6:30 PM against the Syracuse Mets.
