Anaheim Signs Right Wing Troy Bodie and Reassigns Goaltender Timo Pielmeier to Elmira

Syracuse, NY (October 12, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have signed right wing Troy Bodie to a one year contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In addition, Anaheim has reassigned goaltender Timo Pielmeier from the Crunch to Elmira (ECHL).

Bodie, 26, appeared in four preseason contests with the Winnipeg Jets as a pro tryout, scoring one goal with 14 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The 6-4, 213-pound winger appeared in a career-high 59 NHL contests with Anaheim and Carolina in 2010-11, scoring 4 points (1g, 3a) with 61 penalty minutes. Bodie began last season with the Ducks before being claimed on waivers by the Hurricanes on November 16, 2010. He made his NHL debut with Anaheim on January 16, 2009 at Pittsburgh. He has appeared in 107 career NHL games Bodie has notching 11 points (6g, 5a) with 141 PIM.

Selected by Edmonton in the ninth round, 278th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Bodie was originally signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 22, 2008. He has appeared in 185 career AHL contests, notching 56 points (32g, 24a) with 298 penalty minutes. The Portage la Prairie, Manitoba native scored his first professional hat trick on December 19, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a 4-3 win over the Toronto Marlies. Bodie advanced to three consecutive Memorial Cup tournaments from 2003-05 with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL), winning the championship with the club in 2004.

Pielmeier, 22, appeared in 37 games with the Crunch last season, going 16-17-1 with a 3.09 goals against average and .906 save percentage. In addition, he made his NHL debut with Anaheim on Saturday, February 19, 2010 at St. Louis, coming into the game in relief of Curtis McElhinney in the second period. A native of Deggendorf, Germany, Pielmeier spent the 2009-10 season with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors, where he went 27-22-5 with a 3.29 goals against average and .883 save percentage and participated in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game. He was acquired by Anaheim along with Nick Bonino from San Jose in exchange for Kent Huskins and Travis Moen on March 4, 2009.
