Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - A set of one-of-a-kind Peterborough Petes jerseys have been made available through online auction in support of YMCA Strong Kids. The custom jerseys were designed by the local creative team at PTBO Northern Originals.
These specialty jerseys were scheduled to be worn during the second annual Petes Alumni Homecoming game, which looked to highlight the accomplishments of the 1992-93 championship Petes. The 2019-20 OHL regular season and playoffs were ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This set of jerseys are the first items of memorabilia available from the now historic cancelled 2019-20 season, and the "non-game-worn jerseys" hold a place in Petes fans' hearts and minds as a reminder of the success that was yet to come. These celebratory alumni jerseys highlight various components from the 1992-93 championship season- a year that featured Jason Dawe and Mike Harding hitting the 50 goal mark, a feat most recently reached in the 2019-20 season by Nick Robertson.
All proceeds from the alumni specialty jerseys will go towards the Peterborough YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign, an annual initiative focused on raising resources to give kids the opportunities they need to live healthier, happier lives, today and in the future. Funds from the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign go towards enabling children to participate in recreation or physical activity.
In addition to the speciality alumni jerseys, the Petes auction also features game-worn jerseys from NHL prospects Nick Robertson and Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (Toronto Maple Leafs), and Liam Kirk (Arizona Coyotes), with proceeds supporting Petes player education expenses.
Jerseys are available online through CHL Auctions, starting on Tuesday, September 29 at 4:00 PM. Bidding closes on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Peterborough Petes Season Ticket Members and Return to Play Flex Pack holders will receive priority access to tickets to attend games this season, which is set to begin on December 1, 2020. All ticket packages can be purchased by emailing the Petes or by calling the Petes Office at 705-743-3681.
