ALTOONA, Pa---- Erie dropped their sixth straight loss in another tight ball game at Peoples Natural Gas Field Tuesday, losing to Altoona 6-5.
The SeaWolves jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning on RHP Alex McRae. Logan Watkins reached on an error, and then Harold Castro belted him in on an RBI double. Christin Stewart sent a dribbler to short that was booted by the Curve shortstop Cole Tucker, sending in Castro. Erie led 2-0 going into the bottom of the first.
Altoona stormed back in the bottom of the first inning. Anderson Feliz singled in Pablo Reyes, followed by an RBI double by Jerrick Suiter off of Beau Burrows to tie the game at 2-2.
Suiter came through again for Altoona in with an RBI double to right center to give the Curve a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
The Curve added to their lead in the fourth inning with a two out RBI single from Cole Tucker to right field that brought in Jordan George.
Erie tied the ballgame with a two run homer from Zack Cox in the top of the sixth inning into right off of McRae. The long ball was Cox's third of the season.
The tie was shortlived after a two run bottom of the sixth for Altoona. With Gerson Moreno now on the mound, Jordan George and Elvis Escobar both logged RBI doubles to make it 6-4 Curve.
Dawel Lugo earned his third multi-hit game of the season with an RBI single in the seventh to bring the game within one at 6-5.
Tate Scioneaux worked two scoreless innings to earn his 10th save on the year.
Burrows allowed four earned on eight hits through five innings with three strikeouts. Moreno (0-1) worked one inning and allowed two runs in the loss.
McRae (9-4) earned his first win in 2017 against the Erie SeaWolves.
Erie returns to PNG Field Wednesday to continue the four game series with starter LHP Tyler Alexander (5-6, 5.61 ERA). Altoona will send RHP Casey Sadler (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to start the game at 7:00 PM.
