
Allan Cruz, Ronald Matarrita Called up to Costa Rica National Team

CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati midfielder Allan Cruz and defender Ronald Matarrita have been called up to the Costa Rica national team for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League Finals and a friendly against the United States on June 9 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Costa Rica is set to face Mexico in the semifinals on June 3 at Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colo.
The winner of the match will advance to the final on June 6, while the loser will continue to the third-place playoff.
Costa Rica reached the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League after finishing on top of Group D in the Concacaf Nations League A over Curaçao and Haiti.
Cruz has earned 19 caps with Costa Rica since making his international debut on Sept. 7, 2018. He last made an appearance for Costa Rica in an international friendly against Mexico at the Hama Trucks Arena in Austria on March 30, 2020. This season, he has made four appearances, including three starts, for FC Cincinnati. The midfielder has made 40 appearances, including 32 starts, scoring eight goals and adding one assist in three seasons with the Orange and Blue.
Matarrita has made 38 appearances with the Ticos since earning his first cap on Sept. 5, 2015. The defender's last appearance was the on the March 30, 2020 friendly against Mexico. In his first season with the Orange and Blue, the left back has made five appearances, all starts, contributing three assists.
FC Cincinnati will return to action this weekend when the club hosts New England Revolution at TQL Stadium on Saturday, May 29. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, carried on the radio on ESPN1530, streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, out of market on ESPN+, while an audio stream will be available via the iHeartRadio app.
