All-Star game coaches determined
Published on February 14, 2005 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
With the conclusion of Week #7 of the regular season on Sunday night, the coaches that would lead the East and West Division teams in the 2005 All-Star Game were confirmed. Rochester Knighthawks head coach Paul Day will be the head coach of the East Division All-Star Team, and will be assisted by Toronto Rock head coach Terry Sanderson. The West Division All-Stars will be coached by Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall, and assisted by San Jose Stealth head coach Johnny Mouradian. The league earlier announced the head coaches of the first and second place teams in each division after Week #7 would become the head coach and assistant coach, respectively, of the All-Star teams of their respective divisions. The 2005 All-Star Game will be played in Calgary on Saturday, February 26th, and will air live on NBC at 2pm Eastern.
With division races tight from the start, divisional tie-breakers were needed to determine coaches on both the East and West teams.
In the East, Buffalo, Rochester and Toronto are currently 4-2 and tied for first place. The tie-breaker is the head-to-head record of each team against the others. Based on Rochester's advantage in the head to head tiebreaker (2-0) over Toronto (1-2) and Buffalo (0-1), Knighthawks coach Paul Day will coach the East Division All-Stars, and Toronto Rock head coach Terry Sanderson is the assistant coach.
In the West, Calgary (4-3) stands alone in first place, making Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall the head coach of the West Division All-Stars. Colorado and San Jose (3-3) are presently tied for second place. San Jose is 1-0 against Colorado this season, winning the tie-breaker and making Stealth head coach Johnny Mouradian the assistant coach of the West Division All-Stars.
