Albuquerque Downs Salt Lake in Extra Innings

May 2, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Albuquerque rallied to score one run in the ninth and one in the tenth as the Isotopes edged the Salt Lake Bees 3-2. Mike Baxter tied the game with a one out, opposite field home run to left field off of Salt Lake starter Jarrett Grube. In the tenth, Trayvon Robinson led off with a double off of Cory Rasmus (1-1) and moved to third on a passed ball. With one out and after two intentional walks loaded the bases, Carlos Triunfel hit a slow bouncer up the middle that the Bees could not turn a double play on and that allowed Robinson to score the winning run.

The Bees trailed 1-0 in the seventh, but tied the game on a solo home run by Luis Jimenez and then took the lead when Drew Heid walked and scored on a double by Luis Martinez. Grube's strong start resulted in a no-decision, as he went eight and one-third innings and allowed just two runs on three hits with a season high eight strikeouts. Jimenez led the Bees with three hits, including a home run and a double, with one RBI, while Martinez added two hits and one RBI. The Bees split the four game series at Albuquerque with all four games decided by one run with three of them going into extra innings.
