
Alberta Talent to Headline Grey Cup Pregame

Edmonton, AB â Grey Cup 2002 Inc. today announced Canadian Country Music Award winning band, Emerson Drive will perform at the Grey Cup 2002 pre-game show and Edmonton's own Adam Gregory will sing the National Anthem prior to the kickoff of the 90th Grey Cup game on November 24, 2002.
Just last month, Emerson Drive, who got their start in Grande Prairie Alberta, received both Group of the Year and Rising Star honors out of five nominations at the Canadian Country Music Awards. Three individual members of the band were also honored with the Canadian Country Music Awards Musician of the Year in their respective categories â Chris Hartman, Keyboard, Mike Melancon, Drums and Bassist Jeff Loberg.
Adam Gregory, winner of the Outstanding Country Music Award for "Best New Country Artist" in March of 2001 and Outstanding Country Music Recording award from Prairie Music Awards in September 2001, will perform the National Anthem at Grey Cup 2002. Gregory, who attends Jasper Place High School in Edmonton, was also nominated for two Juno's for his song "The Way I'm Made" and four Canadian Country Music Awards.
"It is with great pleasure that we are able to showcase Emerson Drive and Adam Gregory, local Alberta and Edmonton talent at Grey Cup 2002," announced Bill Gardiner, Chair of Grey Cup 2002 Inc. He went on to say, "Accompanying Emerson Drive and Adam Gregory are a cast of volunteers who are generously donating their time and energy to rehearse for this legendary Canadian event".
"Over 800 local volunteers will participate in the pre-game show along with Emerson Drive and over 900 participants including 300 CFL Cheerleaders will perform in the halftime show." Dianne Greenough, Co-Chair of the half-time show said. "These energetic, hardworking volunteers who range in age from 12 to 55 are from the Edmonton Capital Region and surrounding communities including Wetaskiwin, St. Paul and Lloydminster".
Having hosted Grey Cup in 1984 and 1997, this is the 3rd time that Edmonton has hosted this great Canadian tradition.
