Akron RubberDucks Make Holiday Donation to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank

(AKRON, OHIO) - The Akron RubberDucks today presented a check to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in support of their work to eliminate hunger throughout the region. The RubberDucks partnered with the Foodbank on their Stocking Stuffer gift package, which included a $5 from every purchase being donated to provide meals for families in need.

"We appreciate the partnership we have developed with the RubberDucks," said Dan Flowers, CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, "and this donation shows the strength that the Canton-Akron Regional Foodbank has within the communities we serve."

For every dollar donated, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank provides four meals to families in need, and with this donation, the RubberDucks are able to provide nearly 5,000 meals to underserved communities.

"We are so proud of the partnership that the Akron RubberDucks and the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank have established," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander, "and I couldn't think of a better time of year than the holidays to make a donation to this great cause. The Foodbank provides incredible assistance to families across the region, and we are proud to have supported their tireless efforts through our Helping Hands program."

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2020 season, powered by FirstEnergy, will open at Canal Park on Friday, April 17.
