LOOKING AHEAD:

It's a homecoming for several Moose as Manitoba visits Syracuse on Friday night (7:30 ET, 6:30 CT) in the first-ever regular season meeting between the teams, marking the return of Pat Kavanagh, Ryan Ready, Chris Nielsen, Sean Pronger and head coach Stan Smyl to central New York. The Crunch, 7-2-1-0 on home ice this season, have played five consecutive one-goal games, most recently a 3-2 overtime loss to Hershey on Sunday. Brad Moran and 2001-02 AHL scoring champion Donald MacLean lead Syracuse with 18 points each.

Bridgeport begins a three-game weekend in Philadelphia on Friday (7:05 ET) with a 17-game unbeaten streak intact. The Phantoms are 8-1-1-0 since dropping a 3-2 decision to the Tigers on Nov. 15, and would be the hottest team in the AHL if not for their East Division foes from the shores of Long Island Sound. Bridgeport's Jeff Hamilton and Philadelphia's Ben Stafford and Nick Deschenes (who was reassigned to Trenton this week) were linemates at Yale University, finishing 1-2-3 in team scoring in 2000-01.

Old rivals Providence and Hartford find themselves tied atop the Atlantic Division heading into Friday's showdown at the Dunkin' Donuts Center (7:05 ET), where the Bruins are 6-1-2 in their last nine. Layne Ulmer has scored four of his eight goals this season in four games against Providence, including the game-winners on both Oct. 31 and Nov. 15 as the Wolf Pack have already improved on their 1-7-2 head-to-head mark from 2002-03. Nineteen-year-old Hannu Toivonen posted his first AHL shutout last time out, a 3-0 win over Lowell on Dec. 7.

Elsewhere this weekend, Grand Rapids hosts Houston on Friday (7:30 ET, 6:30 CT) in a rematch of last year's Western Conference final... Cleveland brings a 5-1-2-2 road record into Copps Coliseum to take on Hamilton on Friday (7:00 ET)... For the first time since Mar. 21, 2001, Worcester visits Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday (7:05 ET)... Utah wraps up a four-game eastern road swing in Manchester, Hartford and Bridgeport.
