SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League today announced a multi-year extension of its partnership with the MeiGray Group and the continuation of the AHL/MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Program. The MeiGray Group will continue to be the official game-worn jersey source of the AHL and of the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications.

For the 2008-09 season, the AHL and MeiGray will market game-worn jerseys directly to fans and collectors throughout the world for the following American Hockey League teams:

- Binghamton Senators - Grand Rapids Griffins - Hamilton Bulldogs - Hartford Wolf Pack - Hershey Bears - Houston Aeros - Iowa Chops - Lake Erie Monsters - Lowell Devils - Manchester Monarchs - Milwaukee Admirals - Norfolk Admirals - Peoria Rivermen - Philadelphia Phantoms - Portland Pirates - Providence Bruins - Quad City Flames - Rochester Americans - Rockford IceHogs - San Antonio Rampage - Springfield Falcons - Syracuse Crunch - Toronto Marlies - Worcester Sharks

The program will also market game-used pucks and jerseys from the 2009 AHL All-Star Game and the 2009 Calder Cup Finals.

"The AHL is very pleased to be continuing this partnership with the MeiGray Group," said Chris Nikolis, executive vice president of marketing and business development for the AHL. "They have been a good partner for the AHL and our teams. MeiGray provides a unique service for our fans and we are delighted to be able to make AHL game-worn jerseys available to collectors around the world."

For each participating club, MeiGray will own the exclusive rights to the home and away jerseys of 25 players over the first half of the season, while the teams themselves will own the exclusive rights to the second-half sets. All alternate and special-event jerseys will remain property of the clubs. Fans will be offered the opportunity to reserve and pre-order jerseys once the 2008-09 AHL season begins.

"We're delighted to continue our partnership with the AHL," said Barry Meisel, president of the MeiGray Group. "This league has a great tradition, great franchises and great fans. We're thrilled to be able to reach the AHL's broad base of fans and collectors."

The MeiGray Group, which has sold more than 32,000 game-worn hockey jerseys since 1997, directs the game-worn jersey authentication programs for the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association in addition to the American Hockey League and the ECHL.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the seventh year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2007-08. The AHL's 73rd regular season begins on October 8 as 29 teams begin competition for the prestigious Calder Cup.
