Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Bralon Addison and quarterback Dane Evans have been named CFL Top Performers of the Month for September.
Addison, 25, led the CFL with 27 receptions for 497 yards and four receiving touchdowns in four games in September. He also led all receivers with 92 rushing yards on 15 carries in that span, and was named a CFL Top Performer for Week 12 after posting 11 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the Labour Day Classic against the Toronto Argonauts on September 2. The 5-9, 197-pound native of Missouri City, Texas reached 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career during last week's 33-13 road win in Winnipeg and now sits third in the CFL with 1,070 receiving yards on 82 receptions this season.
Evans, 25, posted 112 pass completions on 142 attempts (78.9%) for a league-high 1,497 passing yards and nine touchdowns in September, leading the Tiger-Cats to a 3-1-0 record. He also added 13 carries for 75 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown over that span. Evans also set career single-game highs in passing yards and touchdowns in September, throwing for 442 yards on Labour Day against Toronto, and recording back-to-back three passing touchdown games on September 20 and 27 against Edmonton and Winnipeg, respectively. The 6-1, 218-pound native of Sanger, Texas is currently sixth in the CFL in both passing yards (2,646) and passing touchdowns (14) despite starting just eight games this season.
Saskatchewan's Charleston Hughes, third in voting, joins Addison (1st) and Evans (2nd) as this month's CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
