Daytona Tortugas News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Scott Moss worked five no-hit innings before Mother Nature intervened in Daytona's 6-3 win over the Florida Fire Frogs Monday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

After walking the first batter of the sixth, Moss' night was ended by a 49-minute rain delay. LHP Juan Martinez took over following the delay, and allowed a double on the first pitch he threw.

Daytona got the scoring started in the bottom of the first. Making his Jackie Robinson Ballpark debut, Ibandel Isabel hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat, his second as a Tortuga.

Two innings later, the Tugas were back at it. Friedl led off the inning with a walk, stole second, then scored on a Mitch Nay two-run homer to make it 5-0. Nay has a team-best five homers, and an FSL best 20 RBIs.

In the top of the sixth, the Fire Frogs would break in to the hit and run columns. Lucas Herbert led the inning off with a walk, prior to the game going in to the delay. Following the delay, Marcus Mooney hit a double, for the Fire Frogs first hit, and scored on a sacrifice fly. Christian Pache then made it 5-2 with an RBI single.

Florida cut the lead to 5-3 in the top of the eighth, when Jordan Rodgers drew a bases loaded walk from RHP Ryan Hendrix.

The Tortugas rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the inning. After the first two men were retired by RHP Sean McLaughlin, Taylor Trammell extended the inning with a single to left and came in to score on a Daniel Sweet RBI double to left field, due to an interference call on Florida's third baseman.

Moss (2-1) earns his second win, both against Florida. He did not allow a hit in 5+ innings of work, but did give up an earned run after exiting the game. He struck out three and walked two.

LHP Tucker Davidson (0-3) took the loss for Florida, his second against Daytona in as many starts. He went four innings, gave up four hits, five runs, and walked five.

RHP Jesse Stallings earned his third save in as many tries, inducing three ground balls for a perfect ninth.

RHP Ryan Olson (3-0, 3.18) will get the ball for the Tortugas in the middle game of the series on Taco Tuesday and Silver Slugger Night at The Jack. He will be opposed by LHP Joey Wentz (0-0, 0.64) for the Fire Frogs.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM, with coverage beginning at 6:50 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.

NOTES: Daniel Sweet extended his on-base streak to 24-straight with a fourth inning walk. He also extended his hitting-streak to 10 with an eighth inning double... Scott Moss is the second Tortugas starter to take a no-hitter into the sixth. Wennington Romero did so, also against the Fire Frogs, on 4/8... Florida's hitting coach, Rene Tosoni, and first baseman, Braxton Davidson, were both ejected from the game... Jesse Stallings has pitched three straight perfect innings... Daytona is now 12-1 when leading after six innings.
