Beaudin Named Ultramar Player of the Week

Boucherville, Que. - The final Ultramar Player of the Week is Nicolas Beaudin (Voltigeurs | Drummondville) whose last regular season week was defined by seven points, consisting only of assists, and a differential of +4.

The 18-year-old defenseman played three games last week. On Wednesday, the Voltigeurs took on the Val-d'Or Foreurs and skated away with an 8-2 victory, all while Beaudin collected two assists.

On Friday, Beaudin assisted his team three times. He was Joe Veleno's partner in crime as all of his passes helped his fellow teammate obtain a hat trick. Ultimately, their team triumphed over the Gatineau Olympiques 8-1.

To close out the season on Saturday, the Voltigeurs' defenseman added two assists to his repertoire as his team completed a perfect week, defeating the Shawinigan Cataractes 5-3.

Beaudin is one of the defensemen who has accumulated the most assists throughout the 2017-2018 campaign, sharing top honors with Thomas Grégoire (Phoenix | Sherbrooke) as both blueliners finished the season with 57 apiece. Beaudin also managed to reach a personal best of 69 points in 68 games. With such good numbers, he has effectively contributed to his team's league-leading offensive average, helping Drummondville finish the 2017-2018 season with a 3.99 goals-per-game ratio.

Other players considered for the Ultramar Player of the Week are forwards Ethan Crossman (Titan | Acadie-Bathurst) and Phélix Martineau (Screaming Eagles | Cape Breton).

Crossman scored two goals and assisted his team five times last week. On Tuesday, he scored his 20th of the season against the Charlottetown Islanders. The 18-year-old forward added two assists on Saturday as his team took on their division rival, the Halifax Mooseheads, in what would be the final game of the season. Ultimately, the Titan came out on top, securing the Maritimes division's top spot with a 5-4 win.

Martineau proved to be an effective center last week, winning 68.6% of his face-offs, all while accumulating six points in three games. The 20-year-old forward finished the season in style, scoring three goals and collecting an assist, bringing his personal best for goals in a season to 34. He also led his team throughout the year with 66 points.
