Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (36-21-3-4) @ Brampton Beast (24-29-6-4)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #852

WHEN: Sunday, March 18, 2018 @ 2:00 PM

WHERE: Powerade Centre - Brampton, ONT

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Thunder conclude their three-in-three set this weekend with their fifth trip of the season to Canada to take on the Brampton Beast. Adirondack is coming off of its second straight overtime victory, a 3-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers yesterday afternoon at Cool Insuring Arena.

WORKING OVERTIME: The Adirondack Thunder played overtime hockey for the second straight game and were victorious once again, courtesy of Desmond Bergin's game winner 20 seconds into the extra session. Adirondack, which has now gone to overtime in five of its last seven games at Cool Insuring Arena, improved to 6-1 in games that end in overtime and 9-3 in all games that extend past 60 minutes on home ice this season.

OCEAN'S TWELVE: The Adirondack Thunder are currently in their strongest stretch of play on the season and have earned points from 11 of their last 12 games played. The Thunder have posted an 8-1-1-2 record over that span for 19 of a possible 24 total points in that stretch. With a win today over Brampton, Adirondack would move into a tie for the top spot in the North Division standings.

WARD OF THE WORLDS: Thunder forward Brian Ward collected both of his team's regulation goals last evening, his third multi-goal game of the season. Ward's tallies were his 27th and 28th of the season as he moved to within one tally of Michael Kirkpatrick's franchise record from the 2015-16 season. Ward's 28 goals surpassed his 27 goal total from last season and his 55 career goals are the most in Thunder franchise history.

SUGAR SHANE: Adirondack forward Shane Conacher collected an assist on Ward's tying goal early in the third period as he extended his scoring streak to four games. Conacher leads all Thunder players with 55 points (15-40-55) this season and is one of nine ECHL players with 40 or more assists on the season. Conacher's 40 helpers are a Thunder single-season franchise record, surpassing Peter MacArthur's 2016-17 season total.

TROYAL FLUSH: Adirondack forward Troy Bourke found the scoresheet for the second straight game as he collected an assist on Ward's game-tying goal. Bourke has now amassed 23 points (9-14-23) from 15 games played this season and his 1.53 points-per-game pace ranks fourth in the ECHL. With Bourke in the lineup, the Thunder have posted an 11-2-2 record, including a 7-1-1 record when he collects an assist.

DIVISIONAL DOMINANCE: The Thunder will play each of their final eight games this season within the North Division, which continues to be the tightest in the ECHL. Entering today's action, Adirondack currently sits two points shy of the division leading Manchester Monarchs. The two teams are scheduled for three head-to-head meetings throughout the remainder of the season, including two next weekend in New Hampshire.
