BENSENVILLE, Ill. - Travis Boyd (Hopkins, Minn./1-1--2) and Ryan Haggerty (Stamford, Conn./0-2--2) each notched two points as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Chicago Steel, 10-5, here tonight at the Edge Ice Arena.

After the Steel jumped out to a five-goal lead in the first period, Greg Wolfe made it 6-0 at 10:05 of the middle frame. Just 56 seconds later, Zac Larraza (Scottsdale, Ariz.) netted the first U.S. goal on the power play after converting on a Rocco Grimaldi (Rossmoor, Calif.) feed. Matt Van Voorhis (Edina, Minn.) followed up with a power-play goal of his own just 24 seconds later to make it 6-2. Alexx Privitera (Old Tappan, N.J.) cut Team USA's deficit to three goals with his power-play goal at 13:40, but just one minute later, the Steel's Sahir Gill made it 7-3 after his shot beat netminder Matt McNeely (Burnsville, Minn.).

Mark Anthoine made it 8-3 with a power-play tally just 3:30 into the final frame. Dan Carlson (Corcoran, Minn.) answered back for the U.S. 1:38 later when his shot beat netminder Nick Pisellini. The Steel made it 9-4 after a goal off the stick of Jake Chelios at 16:10. Just 27 seconds later, Boyd tallied for Team USA. With 1:25 remaining in regulation, Alex Carpenter scored his second goal of the night to account for the 10-5 final.

McNeely made 32 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team returns to action Friday (Oct. 9) at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube against defending United States Hockey League regular-season champion Green Bay at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
