9 Former RoughRiders Nominated for Hobey

January 17, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS- The nominees for the 2018 Hobey Baker Memorial Award were announced today. A total of 74 players were nominated for the award which recognizes the top NCAA men's ice hockey player in the nation. 49 of the 74 players nominated, played in the United States Hockey League. The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have nine alumni listed, most of any team in the USHL.

Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders nominated are: Ross Colton, Jacob Hayhurst, Dylan McLaughlin, Matt O'Donnell, Mitch Maloney, Mitch Reinke, Erik Foley, Adam Gaudette and Scott Perunovich.

The top 10 payers from the fan vote will be announced at a later date. Characteristics of the eventual winner are to exhibit strength and character, both on and off the ice; contribute to the integrity of the team; display outstanding skills in all phases of the game and to show scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.

About the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders: Founded in 1999, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as the USHL Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Hockey Club, the club has won one Clark Cup Championship (2004-2005), three Anderson Cup titles (2004-2005, 2010-2011, 2015-2016) and has assisted hundreds of players in reaching their dreams of playing college hockey as student-athletes, while also having 35 former players drafted into the National Hockey League.
