Chattanooga Red Wolves SC News Release

1. Red Wolves look to Extend Club Record Unbeaten Run Against Forward Madison

The Red Wolves welcome Forward Madison to CHI Memorial stadium Saturday night looking to extend an eight game unbeaten run that stretches back nearly two months. The last time out defending champions Greenville Triumph fought back to earn a point under the CHI floodlights, and the squad will be looking to end a tricky run of matches that has seen more draws than wins.

Manager Jimmy Obleda has steered the Red Wolves into second place thirteen matches into the season behind a side that has shown it has quality down to the very last seat on the bench. The squad has seen 8 different goal scorers and 7 different players bag an assist only 13 games into the season. The approach by committee has worked well for the Red Wolves as the bench has turned matches all season long, with the goal threat spearheaded by standout Juan Galindrez and his 7 goal contributions in the early campaign.

In addition to a high-octane and balanced attacking game plan that sees Obleda's men sit second in the league with 21 goals scored, the Red Wolves have found success on the other end of the pitch as well. While clean sheets have been few and far between, the side finds themselves tied for second in the league with only 16 goals conceded. The ability to be successful on both ends of the field have kept the Red Wolves firmly in contention at the top of the table and will be important in keeping Forward Madison at bay Saturday night.

2. Forward Madison Tries to Keep Pace in the Playoff Race

The 2021 campaign has been a rollercoaster of results for Carl Craig and Forward Madison FC. The Madison, WI based side got off to a great start to the campaign under their first-year manager, but then results began to taper off. After 5 unbeaten to start the season, the side has won only once since their May 29th win in Statesboro against South Georgia Tormenta FC.

Forward Madison have been excellent on the defensive end of the pitch, which has contributed to the side only having lost one match in their last 5. However, a lack of goalscoring has seen Carl Craig's squad unable to turn draws into wins. Jake Keegan

leads the way with 6 goals scored but has been the brightest star in an attack that has otherwise struggled to find their shine. The second lowest scoring team in the league with only 15 goals, Forward Madison will be looking to turn up the heat on the attacking end of the pitch.

Despite their struggles on the attacking end of the pitch however, Forward Madison sits firmly in playoff contention only 1 point behind fifth place New England Revolution II. They will pose a significant challenge to the Red Wolves, as they will be motivated to take three points and establish themselves as players in the USL League One playoff race.

3. What to Watch for and What to Expect Saturday Night

Your second place Chattanooga Red Wolves play host to eight place Forward Madison at 7 PM EST Saturday July 31st. The match presents an opportunity for Forward Madison to climb to fifth place in the table, while the Red Wolves can climb to the top of the league with favorable results.

Leading goal scorers Juan Galindrez and Jake Keegan headline, while captain Jose Carrera-Garcia leads the side following a brilliantly scored free kick last week. Eyes will also be on stars Ricky Ruiz and Jonathan Ricketts, who have played an integral role to the success of the side so far.

On the other end of the pitch, Aaron Molloy and Derek Gebhard will look to make the difference for Forward Madison, with the former leading the side with 3 assists and Gebhard adding 3 goals to the tally. With the campaign's early standouts in mind, the Red Wolves have shown they have throughout the 18, with one of the deepest squads in the league. The only thing supporters know for sure about the Cardiac Red Wolves so far? Anyone could be the next match winner in a season that continues to heat up.
