Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Reno 1868 FC has signed Ayrton Statie to a 2020 USL contract, pending league and federation approval. Statie has appeared in 12 international matches with the Curaçaoan national team, tallying 921 minutes.
"Statie's a player that's represented his national team, I think if you watched the Gold cup you saw a very good national team in Curaçao," said head coach Ian Russell. "He's a left back that really likes to get forward, and is really strong in the tackle. He's a good one-on-one defender who works extremely hard off the ball."
The 25-year-old left back first appeared with his national team at 21 years old, and tallied 347 minutes of action in five games at the 2019 Gold Cup. Statie played 68 minutes in a 1-0 quarterfinal loss to the United States. In his 921 minutes of international action, Statie's spent 712 minutes at left back, 202 minutes at defensive midfield and seven minutes at left midfield.
