 Waterloo Black Hawks

$16.50 for a Big Finish

December 1, 2022 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - On November 11th, The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls officially opened their 2022 Red Kettle Campaign at Young Arena during a Waterloo Black Hawks game; in the month of December, Hawks fans can help the organization climb toward their seasonal fundraising goal through the $16.50 Campaign, presented by Slumberland Furniture, 1650-AM "The Fan," and the Hawks.

Each month during hockey season, the $16.50 Campaign highlights a different good cause in the Cedar Valley. Black Hawks fans and 1650 listeners take over from there, with $16.50 being the recommended amount for a donation to the featured charity. Together, sports fans can make a big difference if everyone makes a manageable contribution. The goal is for 100 people to make a donation each month.

"Back in November, I noted that the Black Hawks organization was honored to help The Salvation Army begin their Red Kettle Campaign, and by all accounts our fans gave generously that night," said Joe Greene, Black Hawks president of business operations. "In a new month and with the end of the Red Kettle Campaign in sight, I hope anyone who is able will consider giving a little more for work that is so meaningful here in our community."

Approximately 33 million Americans nationwide receive assistance annually from The Salvation Army via an array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. Locally, The Salvation Army of Waterloo-Cedar Falls is involved in all of those activities. This winter, the organization will also aid approximately 1200 Cedar Valley residents with Christmas toys and food.

To make a donation of $16.50 (or any amount), fans can link to The Salvation Army's online donation portal through waterlooblackhawks.com or 1650thefan.com. A new organization will be highlighted monthly through April.
