Ramos Makes Big Beloit Debut

June 7, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Newly acquired Wilson Ramos provided Snappers' ace Jeff Manship with more than enough offense in Thursday's 10-4 victory over the visiting Burlington Bees. Following a Brian Dinkelman single in the bottom of the first, Ramos launched the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for a two-run homer.

Starter Jeff Manship, making his first start after a hamstring injury sidelined him, continued to befuddle opposing hitters. Manship went five strong innings allowing a single earned run while fanning 4 batters.

Providing Manship and the Snappers' staff with even more support was second baseman Brian Dinkelman, who was 4 for 5 on the day. Also taking the home run trot with Ramos was Johnny Woodard with a laser to left center and Joe Benson, who added his second homer of the season in the seventh.

The Snappers' bullpen closed out the game to earn Manship his sixth victory of the season. Matthew Fox and Aaron Craig combined for three scoreless innings while Rob Delaney, despite allowing three unearned runs in the ninth, ended a late Burlington rally.

Upcoming schedule: The Snappers continue their current homestand this Friday at 7:00 pm. Beloit will be taking on the Burlington Bees Friday through Sunday and the Cedar Rapids Kernels Monday through Thursday of next week. Beloit's Tyler Robinson goes against Burlington's Mario Santiago.
