Danville Demolition

Post by Minor League Man » Thu Aug 17, 2006 1:28 am

That's the team name.

How do I know? I went to the press conference today (I picked the winning name)

They liked the name Demolition because it reflected Danville's blue-collar industry history.

Even though I'm an out-of-towner (out-of-stater), I was picked over the local guy that liked the name for the prize (I assume they could get more publicity that way).

I told them that I was proud to have won (my late godmother-my mom's best friend and my best friend's mom-was born and raised in Danville.)

So, anyway, they found an owner and a head coach (both look strong enough).

Overall, it was a good time.

And by the way, in the papers, news, etc. my real name is listed as the contest winner-you'll see.

As for what other names they were considering, all I heard was that 95% of them started with the letter D, and somebody suggested Terror because his kids were a terror at home, but nothing else I heard about names.

I like the name selected the logo is kinda lame but I think they should have been the

Danville Convicts or Danville Drugies since there is this huge drug probem and criminal rate in Danville plus the prison there

Yeah, the logo seems like an odd choice, although it looks professionally done, I've never seen a bulldozer for a logo before. I guess they can say it's unique, but it's nothing spectacular. Some of the other leagues have better.

Anyone remember the New England Steamrollers of the AFL? The NFL also had the Providence Steamroller back in the early days.

The logo looks like something from MS Word Clip Art. How about a guy with some explosives and a detonator for a logo? Good luck to the team. I hope they do well.

atleast with the demolition they kept with the pattern of hiring a HS football coach to coach a professional team. Coach Luke has done good work In danville from what I have read but Arena is a different beast then HS outdoor football.
I think Danville will have a crowd the first 2 games or so but people wont pay the ticket prices over and over to see anything in Danville. Big name concerts only draw like 1000 people if they are lucky. Good luck I will go watch their first game but probably not many after that. Wont be able to afford taking 2 adults and 2 kids.
