In spite of all that Cleburne will play this season when Laredo's season seems to be very much in question because of ongoing litigation. Any info on that?

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - City Council is looking to discuss the latest in the Laredo Baseball Holdings owners civil lawsuit.

The owners have an ongoing battle to determine specific duties over the operations of the Laredo Lemurs team.

During this lengthy process, majority owner Arianna Torres has said in court the company lost $800,000, and over $3 million in the last three years.

The last hearing happened in November 2016. The latest in the case will be discussed today during Monday night's City Council meeting.

They are a dead team walking (Laredo), and this supports the writing on the wall in Cleburne as well, but to your claim about Cleburne playing don't be so sure about that I don't know this but that other organization could simply file for an injunction and dead pool the season, of those are options such as Just Cause or any of three other possible's that could bring the whole thing to grinding halt.

It simply depends on if they want to wait for a slow death or other options, You can see that there is not enough sponsorship in place to sustain one season even with that free rent give away, simply look above at the numbers Laredo lost that's simply dumb to lose that kind of cash in today's marketplace.

With training camps set to start May 6, it sounds like the league needs an emergency meeting and then immediately suspend both Laredo (for financial stability) and Cleburne (for the best interests of baseball). They need to draw up a new schedule with a 10-team, two-division format. Go to a 90-game schedule (playing each team 10 times — five at home, five on the road).

Here in doo dah, we could make or break the AA in this part of the country. Wichita should know by June 1 if a new stadium is in the works. They are looking at the San Antonio Missions (and are competing with Amarillo and Lubbock for that team) and are even in play for a PCL team (possibly the Colorado Springs Sky Sox).

The Wingnut owners are even sounding like they are conceding this could be their last year (They said they support the city's effort to build the stadium and lure a new team. I couldn't read if that meant they would be investors in any affiliated team or are just ready to give up. The ownership group has money and the team has done decent box office, but has never made much of a profit).

The stadium's other tenant is the National Baseball Congress World Series, a tournament for summer college teams that had an outstanding turnout last season (due in part to a team of retired MLB players that was put together for the tournament). The NBC has been in business since the 1930s.

Again, that leaves the age old question of where the AA can be viable. Is Texas dead? Fort Worth did very well, till ownership changes and stadium problems doomed that team. I still think Grand Prairie can be viable, but it will take marketing. Would Amarillo or Lubbock settle for an AA team as a consolation prize if they can't get the Missions? Rio Grande Valley and San Angelo had good years in the old Texas-Louisiana/United League, but some not-so-good years as well (RGV lasted for 20 seasons before folding).

The Pecos League crashed and burned in Topeka, but with a real stadium, there is nothing to say an AA team there couldn't be successful (especially since it would fit in so well with Lincoln and the T-Bones). Could Independence or Lee's Summit make it with a stadium? Some sort of Kearney-Grand Island team? Anywhere in the Dakotas? Saskatoon or Regina or Thunder Bay to help out Winnipeg?

Or does the AA just pack it in entirely and let the surviving teams join the Frontier League? (Which could leave Winnipeg in the cold).

Great point NKSports, Cleburne is a shell game if they couldn't afford to set up their own office space for a year, and then have had to receive two free years of stadium rent while looks like attempting to benefit from that fraud by charging any other event to use the stadium.

How serious can you take them, they appear to be playing with funny money, and if they can't average 2,000 plus in average attendance alone with the food and drink, then they will start to miss payroll by game 20 and will need help making trips to finish the season its a death watch for them not a question of when but how long will it take.

That hidden ownership group will have to use its cash to save face with this one, as for the American Association nothing is being said about the Laredo problem no press release nothing from the commissioners office who should be out front of it offering something but instead nothing, why would any one with good business sense want in if this Laredo problem can't even be put to words a week before training camp opens and it appears the league office should have already known based upon court records date and they didn't move to protect the other teams if that is the way this played out then the league only cares about getting its renewal money every year and fold if you must we got ours whoever ours may be in that league.

Congrats, but now comes the test will she spend the $352,000 to cover the cities cost stated in the courts documents, I don't think the city will take a down payment that's a lot of cash out lay for a team that she has already said lost $800,000 and 3 million over three years.

But specific to this season that $352 is large money, I've seen a few won't miss the cash guys flounder when losing that kind of cash, and with such a late start they will do nothing but bleed Red ink all season once again, but enjoy the season.

The city controls the Lemurs future now, I expect the AA says yes they don't care as long the check clears for the renewal. Of which a question upon weather they paid that or not could be asked based upon court statements about the teams cash flow. Lots of smoke and glass trick but again enjoy the season.

Judge gives her control, other party ignores ruling, city fails to put discussion on City Council agenda yesterday.

To be clear Ms. Torres and her father have more than enough $$ to fund the season and take the loss. Plain and simple time has run out, league will make a decision in a day or two on Lemurs. In the end the court battle will be interesting and it will also be interesting to see who is added to litigation and what else is filed should the Lemurs be taken out all together.

GAME OVER!!

The little train that could, here's what happens when you don't know how to.

Cleburne's photo.
5 hrs · (today) May 4,2017

OPEN HOUSE: Overflow parking for The Depot Open House will be available at Cleburne High School, and City/County Transportation will provide free shuttle bus service to and from The Depot.

* A free shuttle service provided by City/County Transportation will be available from the Cleburne High School parking lot from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM **

Now here's the problem only one of these can be true, one thing they won't have to worry about is overflow parking, they still have yet to reach 5,000 followers on the facebook page let the countdown start.

Pictures show a lot of very empty seats in Cleburne tonight, sources also say for street dedication leading up to ball park only 65 people showed up.

Let the taps begin, I had the opportunity to attend a CIF indoor football game and the attendance was less than 800 in a really big arena, I mention this because this baseball team has even less of a chance for success than that indoor team, which is leaking red ink all over the landscape.
