Tweet from CBS Sports Insider Jason La Canfora - Hearing word of a very professional, large-scale, non-NFL spring league aiming for 2018 kickoff. Sounds intriguing. Some ex-NFLers involved

Oh, the geographic thing again.

You know what? Texas and Florida don't have an "instant rivalry."

College football rivalries are built up over decades and involve not only geography, but memorable games and players within the context of love for alma mater and fall Saturdays with comely cheerleaders and rah-rah-rah.

So other than the SLAF having absolutely none of those things, sure, of course, instant success!

And a look at their executive bios page shows some familiar faces.

Sigh. Yet another "coming soon" league that never will be, yet that convinces reporters to allude to some nebulous information about unnamed billionaires.

And...you guessed it! The "there are more college players than the NFL can accommodate" bit! Ready-made player pool of guys who aren't good enough! Come watch us play!
