Pacific wild-card matchups are screwed!

Post by goguard88 » Wed Jul 05, 2006 4:02 am

Why the heck is it Katy/Beaumont and Tri-Cities/Wyoming?! Katy is the #3 seed, so they should be playing #6 Wyoming. Tri-Cities is #4, so they should play #5 Beaumont. Man, the NIFL never ceases to drive me insane.

The way this works out is that Wyoming (#5) is a higher seed than Beaumont (#6). They have the same record, but split their games. But, Wyoming beat the crap out of Beaumont in Wyoming and barely lost in Beaumont. This places Katy (#3) vs Beaumont (#6), but instead of playing in Katy, they are playing in Beaumont due to some really screwed up priorities in the Katy Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Totally a Katy SNAFU, their team may earn an early exit as a result...

Beaumont has the better conference record, though! They're 8-4, and Wyoming is 8-6. I don't get it!

it is a money thing guys..... Tho i dont think it is right that Katy lost its home game, and that Wyoming is seeded higher then the Drillers, That is what is going to happen. Katy's issue was unavoidable...I have talked to both sides of the issue. Beaumont it looks will try and make the best of the situation by having a Free Playoff game ...

The Wyoming/ Tri Cities situation. I have no clue on whats going on there behind the scenes...

Yes, this is a screwed up deal. Time for the better teams to just sack up and show they are the better team.

Guys you all have it wrong. See the thing is, the playoffs are what the NIFL wants them to be. Why even bother with tiebreakers, seedings, etc? The only thing you can count on is that 12 teams will make the playoffs and ultimately one will win. :)

Piosfan, that's the best explanation we've seen so far, unfortunately.

I guess they did that to make the matchups more regional. But then, if that's the case, why does Osceola have to make the long trip to Cincinnati? Sigh. Bring on the PIFL in 2007! That'll be a nice, refreshing change. We'll actually have structure for once.

Since I am a little slow are you guys saying that Tri-Cities has to go to Wyoming. That is big as the Cavs are a different team in Casper. Plus the NIFL shouldn't allow that to happen but what am I talking about they always do the right thing.

No, Tri-Cities will host, like they should. That's about the only thing that's right with the Pacific Conference wild-card matchups.
