Rumour is of a group investors are ready to apply for a ECHL expansion franchise for Memphis playing out of the Fed EX Form. The River kings play across the border and downgraded from the Central Hockey to the SPHL.
Allow me to name the team:
Either the Graceland Hipshakers or the Memphis Sun, Stax or Volt.

The trainwreck experiment that was the Chicago Express will not return for the 2012-13 season.

Whats the deal with the Reno Raiders & will they ever play in Reno? There is a new events center where the NBA D-League Bighorns play.

The events center is not that new.

It's primary tenant is not the Bighorns; it's the concert promotion business. They take every possible Saturday. I'm not terribly sure it could fit a full rink anyway. Reno needs another option for hockey.

Funny thing happened yesterday... the IOC and the US Olympic Committee settled a longstanding issue over some revenue streams that surprisingly come to USOC. That will probably give American cities a better chance to win an Olympic bid sometime in the foreseeable future.

Now we'll see if Reno wants to chip in for a real hockey facility, since the region already has an active committee seeking the 2022 Winter games. Don't hold your breath... but keep an eye out.
