Big In Texas?

They say everything's larger in Texas. Well, 'spose that's true: the Atlantic League just got there and it'll never have been larger.

With Fort Worth out of the AA (temporarily), the wonder occurs as to whether that market (with LaGrave Field) would be attractive as a companion franchise for Sugar Land, thereby putting AtL franchises around the big state's biggest cities.

Yes, we've all heard about the AtL eventually acquiring greater share of Texas (Montgomery County, Grand Prairie, etc.). The issues with Fort Worth in the AA might be jolted toward solutions (a new eventual ballpark being a chief part) were the mighty and reputable Atlantic League to get involved.

Merely a thought. Thoughts?

Texas has great weather for Baseball...................in December!!!!!

Damn, that place is HOT! I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to play Baseball, outdoors, in Texas. I spent some time in San Antonio this summer and even at 9PM the outside temp was 90+. That's nuts.

I wonder how they'll hold up their fanbase with 5 game homestands against the SAME team.

I mean I can take a certain amount of baseball per week (I'm practically a season ticket holder of the SOMD Blue Crabs, though I'm not) but more than three games a week, I wouldn't usually do ESPECIALLY it being against the same team.

The affiliated Southern League (Double-A) does their schedule almost exclusively in 5-game blocks (12 of their 15 home series are 5 games, one is 4, and two are 3). Hasn't seemed to hurt their attendance over the years... it's about the overall product, the fan experience, and how it's sold as much as it is the opponents in minor-league baseball.

Well, that's true. I've heard they sold out quite a few games... lets hope they can keep that up.

Well with a new ballpark they're going to have quite a few sellouts. That's part of the formula to their success.

Fort Worth? Maybe with a bigger ballpark. The one there now is not AtL standard but if they needed a place to park a team it might work.

Who knows with Montgomery County.

Keep hearing Grand Prairie brought up but what is the real possibility of that happening. I'd say it's very slim.

Baton Rogue is a market that might work. They have had discussions in the past for an affiliated team so why not AtL.

If Loudon ever joins, they just new two more teams in the mid-west and they'll be fine. make the fourth team (in the mid-west) the RoadWarriors.

You do realize Loundon is Virginia right? Not sure how that changes anything in Texas.

They need Montgomery County to actually get moving or throw in the towel so they can figure things out. And the person who mentioned Grand Prarie jumping to the AtL, where does this come from?

Road team in Texas doesn't work. My guess is that when a team goes to Texas they will play the whole circuit and how do you play a road team with no ballpark? Maybe it's just me but that's my view.
