muskegon to the ushl

Post by ca » Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:24 pm

with muskegon jumping to the ushl baseball better wake up as indy pro teams with their inability to use existing pks are headed down the same road of not being able to cut it in the pros

This was a terrible decision on Muskegon's part. That whole town is pissed.
I've heard they will not support a hockey team that plays down a level or 2.
IHL is expanding next year to 8 or more teams. All the currant league members
are expected to return. And with the probable folding of the (single A) AAHL,
Evansville is expected to join and most likely the Hounds will return to Chicago.
I don't know what any of this has to do with baseball...

move to the ushl may not be popular it seems to be needed as for what it has to do with baseball could this pro/amateur shift muskegon will go through be one that will affect indy teams in the state on the diamond ? id say yes and dont be stunned if flint and p/h dont follow muskegon as a simple matter of economics

If I were in Muskegon, I'd rather see the USHL over the IHL. The USHL has plenty of young start that are on their way up (most go pro, to Major Jr., or to D-1 colleges) and it's good hockey.

To say the USHL is 2 steps below the IHL is just stupid because you really can't compare them. The USHL is amateur and the IHL is pro and with the large allotment of vets, it is more of a league of career minor leaguers/people on their way down. You do see the players on their way up but not too many.

Most folks from Muskegon are not pleased with the decision.
Those that I've spoken with won't support amatuer hockey.
IHL could be circling the drain but all of AA hockey will need
reorganization over the summer. Mark My Word: You will see
changes in 2010-11.

I remember how disappointed green bay was when it went to Jr hockey instead of another semi pro league, but they discovered how good the hockey actually is and tonight 8000 are packing the arena tonight. It's better to see the next stars of the game then players who never made it.
