Alignments and new teams?

Post by off_the_nets » Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:10 pm

Does anyone know of any more teams joining the SIFL this upcoming season? I read about the some Florida teams called the "Punishers" and "Cobras" but nothing more. I also see that the Augusta Colts are done but there will be an expansion franchise in Augusta this season. So we have:

Columbus Lions
Louisiana Swashbucklers
Carolina Force
Florida Cobras
Layfatette Wildcatters
Texas Hurricanes
Albany Panthers

Lastly, who are the Houston Lightning?

From what I read, Augusta will still have a team...just a different name and management
I havent heard anything about the Houston team, but I hope they get something off the ground this season

I would love to see Fayetteville and Carolina jump ship to the SIFL. Aren't they tired of a league run by ego!!

Ego's or brothers or Southern gentlemen. Won't matter
in 2011, because, pretty sure all 3 leagues will be workin
together.

We are happy with the regional footprint we have going within the SIFL. Expansion for the future will happen if it make since travel wise for our teams.

It's nice to have someone from the SIFL clearing information here. Thanks! I would like to know where the Cobras plan on playing. I have heard that the Storm are joining AF1 so they will play at the St. Pete Times Forum. The only other arena I know of is the Florida Expo Hall. Any clues? I live in the Tampa Bay area and would love to go to SIFL games.

They could play where the Florida Scorpions play, the Manatee Civic Center in Bradenton FL, though that's probably not the most ideal location geographically.

I do not like to have the League scoop any teams announcement, ever... I will say I have ample dates secured for them. Like i posted, we have Owners Meetings next week, then we will start releasing information for 2010 on a regular basis.
