Sonnie -
Nearly every problem with the ABA can be traced back to Joe Newman and his abject failure as a CEO, so A1's constant calling out of him is, in a way, justified (albeit occasionally over the top).

A thread about a free agent camp run by the PBL has no connection to the BC loss in last season's championship game.

There is a distinct difference.

And again, BC agreed to the adjusted format, and lost the game they agreed to play.
Proud to be "Mean-spirited blogger #10K" ;)
And we believe it is better to have critics and people who care than not to have interest at all. Joe Newman 6/30/05
I never said the ABA had the greatest numbers regarding retention of teams. OldSchoolBaller (neither did we  )
The ABA has tarnished minor league professional basketball throughout this country Ed Krinsky 2/15/06
We are now making some adjustments to our schedule - Joe Newman 10/9/08 in perpetuity

Hey Chuck ... great work at the Louis Saunders Memorial. Hope you don't mind the link ...

The Millrats had a good showing didn't they!

Back to the combine ... nothing is perfect, however as combines go, this one was well run. The bottom line is players got exposure, period. Believe it or not, there were actually more Dleague coaches there than anything. Tallent level wasn't high, however, there were a few diamonds in the rough so to speak that will get contracts somewhere. And to answer the question you didn't ask ... Zeke had a good showing! He absolutely broke the ankles of a kid early on in a drill ... made me laugh!

Honestly, they had a great showing there.

First off, let me commend James Hall and his group for organizing a solid basketball tournament that not only showed off some NBA, D-League and PBL talent in a tough and competitive series of games, but it also honored the memory of Louis Saunders, who did so much with kids, teaching them basketball and football and getting as many of those kids as he could off the streets.

Sunday the Millrats essentially played three games in one day - albeit the games were two 20-minute periods, the clock ran except for timeouts and with 2:00 remaining in the second half. They advanced to the finals by defeating - in double overtime - a team that had Glen "Big Baby" Davis on their roster, and if it weren't for them running out of gas against the Mission Hill team in the championship game, that trophy and a cool 10K could have gone back to the Granite State.

Besides Desmond Ferguson, Al Stewart, Scott Hazelton and Kenyon Gamble, all on the Millrats team, there were plenty of other PBL veterans in the tournament, including David Bailey, Q Randall, Alex Owumi, Sam Carey, Steve Hailey and PJ Young.

Yeah, feel free to look at the pics and watch the slideshows. And just an alert - you like these photos... wait until you see the photos in the PBL in the upcoming season, now that I'm armed with this swank Nikon D700...

Mark, I was trying to listen to your interview. A suggestion, you may want to cut the rapp, which prevents me from hearing what you said.

What couldn't you hear? The rap comes before the interview.

It should be the other way around, my friend. Maybe lessen the sound on the rap(I'm not a fan of it) so more of the interview can be heard,or turn the sound up on interview. Just my thoughts.

WYMT, a CBS affiliate, produced the interview. I could fiddle with the sound and edit the video myself, but I really don't have time right now. Thanks for your insight and feedback though. I hope you at least enjoyed the interview!
