First, I understand they don't want to be in a unionized league. Second, a move to the AHL didn't help Quad City. The Komets are in a situation that has so far worked for them. I don't think they see any reason to step outside that situation. A move to a higher level league often involves increased costs with little if any additional revenue.

Well, Quad City coulda worked if they had just done what it took to keep the Mallards name (I keep telling everybody that and have yet to see an argument against that)! It's the brand the people recognize, and yes it could have worked on a major level!

There is a whirlwind of activity expected in the off season w/ the IHL.
First off: There's conversation going on in Indy to bring them back to the IHL.
Another group in Chicago called the Steel have their sights on IHL.
The Madison, Wi. Kodiacs group is having discussions w/ the IHL.
You've mentioned Q.Cities in the previous threads. They lose their
affiliation w/ the NHL Flames, they'll bring the Mallards back to IHL.
Possibilities in Dayton and Peoria too, since the Blues may change affiliates.
So to answer your question, I don't think Ft.W is going anywhere. To move to the AHL
would mean bigger budgets, more travel costs and higher ticket prices. The Komets will
not do that to their fans.
