Post by PikevilleOT » Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:29 am

Any updates on the Miners' future? PBL or another league? 2009-2010 ownership?

They have no money. They owe the CBA money. They have nothing. They fooled all of you with all of this talk about Kentucky being a premier franchise who did it right etc. Smoke and mirrors. They have nothing

I believe the EK ownership had money, but once the PBL overtures were rejected, it didn't want to spend anymore of it in the CBA.

...and East Kentucky never posted good attendance numbers...ever. 1700 here and 1000 there wasn't going to get it. People were also fooled into thinking those were good numbers in relation to the rest of the league. Problem was, the other teams had lousy attendance too.

Don't get me wrong, EK ownership had money, but they weren't making it from the Miners. They made it in the NFL.

Updates, I have heard from 2 sources...they are telling me pbl...the owner(s) are still in town and still are going around looking for next year sponsors, honestly I have no idea on if they will come back or not...If they do come back they have to pay alot of people, in my eyes its doubtful.

They had a season high of over 2,000 on opening night, as I recall. But they went down from there.

...and that's not good. Opening night should be the Grandest crowd of the season. Teams have the entire off-season to prepare for opening night. Well, if you're correct (and I'm too lazy to check) and that WAS their grandest crowd, then numbers like that aren't grand at all.

I think I read on a billboard that the Kentucky Coach will be in front of the local Walmart trying to sell his paperback. I think a press release will be out soon as well. Any monies generated will go to the players that the club did not pay for the last three weeks of the season.

No need to check, Ken. I remember specifically, they were over 2,500. But their next home game they did not break 1,000, nor did they ever since. You're right, it's not good. Aside from Albany, no team broke 1,000 since early in the season. For this reason, I see no future.
