Well according today's paper in Amarillo. Amarillo is pretty well set to join the CBL up coming season. Also it looks like you can add Laredo, & Edinburg. This should be a fun season. With Amarillo having 3 old teams & 4 news teams to have to worry about. This is just going to be a great season. Hopefully

The death of the ULB may have been exactly what the CBL needed to turn the corner. The coming weeks and this season should be interesting.

on a side note, there is a new forum devoted to the CBL. So if anybody is interested in CBL chatter take a hop over to CBLFan.forumer.com

It seems that so far, only the Alexandria Aces have officially joined the CBL and the other ULB teams have been made an "offer" to join for 2009. Reading some of the news from ULB cities, it looks like some teams might use the CBL for one season and then try to join the American Association.

You are correct, Alexandria is the only one in for certain right now, but the rest have been invited. Looks like the intent in Laredo is to eventually join the American Association if they can get a new ballpark built. I'm told things should be sorted out in the next couple of weeks.

Amarillo and San Angelo were the strongest teams....should they be considered shoe-ins?

The key to remember here is that all ULB teams must find new ownership first before they can join any league. That is why Alexandria has already hit the ground running and Amarillo and Laredo claim to have ownership groups being finalized so they are more of "shoe-ins" then any other teams. Not that San Angelo isn't likely. I am just saying that they must find new ownership.
