Just keep sending the stuff. That's all that can be done - that and a friendly phone call to see what would be needed to get some better pub.

Post by ronaldoswalt » Thu Jan 01, 2009 2:31 am

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New year from all of us at turfcats.com

Don’t forget to keep returning to the site in 2009. We will be posting updates every day in the run up to the kickoff in 2009. There may also be a surprise or two for fans to look out for. If you haven’t yet done so you can still register on our site under E-TCAT news to get the latest news on your Central Texas Indoor team.

We would also like to thank all of you who have posted or even visited our site, when we launched one month ago we did not expect over 2,000 unique readers in such a short time. The demand for season tickets have been great, also look for cheerleader and player tryouts in mid January.

This is the wrong outlet for this. This is what the sales staff has to go out and pound the pavement with. Are there a lot of Austin area businesses reading this board? I didn't think so.

Just remember (to quote David Mamet) — ABC: Always Be Closing.
Glengarry Glen Ross wrote:"Blake: A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have you attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's %$#$ or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision ... You want to know what it takes to sell real estate? It takes BRASS BALLS to sell real estate."

It seems like quoting the whole thing was worse than originally posting it.

A couple of thoughts here, first - the Thread is AUSTIN TURFCATS,
second - how many 50 yard fans, player, office workers, coaching staff members, owners, GM's, league office workers, etc read these boards?
Quite a few.

It's always fun to see what the other guy is up to and his lines of thinking.
It looks like the Turfcats front office is out front putting things together and on a steady pace taking care of business. We haven't seen too many press releases from the other teams yet.

You infer that Austin business and I guess fans also since it was about ticket sales too, don't come here. So then no, this isn't the job of the sales office to pound the pavement inside of the forum here. It is the job of the fans to support and follow them here though. Sorry my interest in this new league and team offends you. Austin has seen Indoor, AFL, and af2 teams come and go, I'm hoping the area can get enough support to keep a team here indefinitely.

If you feel this is a waste of time and not worthy of discussion, then you my friend are one of the fair weather supporters holding the sport back from reaching it's full potential. We should all be screaming from the roof tops letting the whole world know what we've got, chances are we might find some new fans that were oblivious the sport even existed. Especially with all the differing sports forums here at OSC, the chance of a 50 yard virgin stumbling into another sport is greater than most forums.

We've seen numerous Indoor Leagues and what seems like a gazillion teams go down in flames. what's wrong with keeping track of the progress? After all this is an Indoor Football forum / message board, I thought that's what people did here. That's what real fans do, search for any info they can find. The sports Diehards enjoy knowing how things are done and what's going on around the league, not just with their own team.

I think this is a perfect outlet to post and discuss this type of information. On other forums we fans often discuss varrying ticket pricing and PR done by our teams. We also discuss advertisers, sponsors, and investors. The people that come to forums such as this typically are not casual fans, they enjoy the entire dimension of the business, not just who won on game day. Obviously it got your attention, I do appreciate the input.

I would rather read these posts of season tickets and sponsership packages then some of those threads that go on for 14 pages about my league is better than your league and this guy is an idiot and that guy is a goof and blah blah blah.

If you don't like the post, don't read it.

I'm just messin' with ya. I'm not a hater. Otherwise I wouldn't have thrown in a couple of quotes from my favorite movie about selling.

I'm surprised there haven't been many press releases for the other teams yet. Typically the local media ignores the minor leagues and you need to flood them with info just to get a small amount to the masses.

We need all of the first year teams to step up and promote the league to show the teams supposedly joining next year that it's a viable investment.

Plus as far as the masses that either reject or are unaware of Indoor Football are concerned it affects the overall reputation of the sport itself. We hear the naysayers point out or laugh about the happenings in leagues such as the NIFL, but how often do they point out the positive such as the UIF. The merger of the two best leagues into the IFL will hopefully help cement the viability of a real sport to attract new fans.

All of the leagues must work hard to put a positive vibe out to the masses so we won't all be thought of as a Jim Terry scam :o
