Actually, 38 teams currently planning to play this year. The other 11 are slated for next season, so the league is very close to your January 1 number already.

I don't think you have to worry about too many people forgetting that. In fact, I'd be surprised if you aren't quoted on this in a couple months.

Stunners gone?

Post by Dan K » Fri Oct 24, 2008 2:20 pm

The latest ABA team list does not include the St. Louis Stunners, previously listed in the Southeast. That's 37 and counting.

Interesting. As of yesterday I had the following games:

12/07/08 Kansas City Spartans @ St Louis Stunners
01/02/09 St Louis Stunners @ Nashville Broncs
01/24/09 WVirginia Outlaws @ St Louis Stunners
01/25/09 WVirginia Outlaws @ St Louis Stunners
01/26/09 St Louis Stunners @ S Chicago Ball Stars
01/27/09 St Louis Stunners @ S Chicago Ball Stars
02/22/09 St Louis Stunners @ S Chicago Ball Stars
03/07/09 St Louis Stunners @ WV Outlaws
03/08/09 St Louis Stunners @ WV Outlaws

S Chicago and KC had just posted their schedules.

Is there any way?

Does anyone have any concrete proof that the Stunners are indeed gone for this year? The ABA site has removed them and so has OSC.

However their team name is mentioned on lots of the other team schedules out there.

So far I haven't received any e-mail back from the Stunners if they are going to play this year.

It certainly doesn't look good for them.

No concrete proof about the Stunners, but that is fairly typical with ABA teams that just seem to disappear with no explanation. Have we been able to believe many of the ABA schedules posted over the past few years?

Arizona Rhinos' home schedule:

Dec. 5, Las Vegas
Dec. 12, Beijing Olympians
Dec. 14, Houston
Dec. 23, San Diego
Dec. 30, San Francisco
Jan. 20, Maywood
Jan. 25, Gallup
Jan. 27, Washington
Feb. 11, Salt Lake City.
Feb. 15, Los Angeles
Feb. 18, Phoenix
Feb. 25, South Texas
Feb. 27, West Texas.
Mar. 5, Modesto
Mar. 18, Celebrity All-Star Game

Is it just me or would it seem like you'd play the team closest to you more than once at home (and, presumably, once away)?

And what is this 15th home date, this "Celebrity All-Star Game?"

Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.

See the below for proof. The Stunners are indeed done.

Thanks for the email. I'm sorry to inform you that the Stunners has
suspended operations with the American Basketball Association. We will keep
professional basketball in St. Louis. Our organization is currently
planning to return next fall. Please visit us online to learn more about
our relationship with the ABA. Thanks again for your interest and support
of the Saint Louis Stunners.
