Pro Football Returning To Little Rock

“We meet August 10th and we will finalize the contract with them." With that, representatives from War Memorial Stadium announced plans to host home games for a new Arkansas professional football team. The All-American Football League is hoping to take advantage of the football fervor felt in much of the South.

Kennan Davis, the Vice-President of Business and Operation for the AAFL says, “We've identified through marketing research and a lot of common and practical sense that Little Rock, Arkansas, Knoxville, Tennessee, Gainesville, Florida, Detroit, Michigan, Birmingham Alabama were strong hotbeds for football in general. Whether it be high school, collegiate, and ultimately professional football.”

Unlike the NFL, players in the AAFL must have exhausted their college eligibility and graduated with a degree to be eligible for play.
League organizers and even professional football players say there are plenty of athletes out there to fill the rosters.

Robert Thomas, Henderson State star and former Dallas Cowboy says, “Everybody knows less than 1 percent of the guys who play college football even get a chance to go to camp, let a lone the chance to perform out there. And I think for the talent that gets lost in the mix, I think it gives them another opportunity to showcase their talents and keep their skills in tact. And who knows this might be a stepping stone for moving to the NFL.

Unlike the WFL and XFL, this league plans to rely on satisfying the fans in the stands instead of enticing big money from a television contract. Ticket prices will be affordable for most everyone.

Davis explains, “The cheapest price five dollars, the highest price 50 dollars. Anybody and everybody can come out to a game and have a good time.
