USL vice president Steven Short. “There is a lot for us to learn in-market, specifically what the city would want to see from a professional team. You don’t want to force a team there, if it’s not going to be supported. Then it doesn’t help anyone.”

Code speak for build us a stadium and allow us to manage it, and the city looks like a perfect fit for our model.

It's a joke that these minor league organizations think they have something for the majority of a city.

It's no different than the major league's a minority of the citizens are on board, treat them accordingly.

They want a 3,000 seat stadium, which is in abundance in the area. They want a 3,000-seat stadium without American football markings. That leaves them with one — Wichita State's Cessna Stadium — which would be unsuitable for pro soccer because they recently moved the pole vault, long jump and triple jump runways inside the track, which would make the playing surface way too narrow.
They mentioned the new baseball stadium, which won't be ready until 2019 or 2020 (which would be in time for USL3) but soccer fields always look kind of awkward on baseball field's (and then you have baseball markings to worry about because this will be an all-turf baseball field).
