Angst!

Post by Pounder » Wed Oct 11, 2017 6:50 am

I had a feeling, and kind of an interesting think-piece exercise of sorts, about the possibility some years/decades down the road if USA failed to qualify for a World Cup.

Well, that happened tonight. Couldn't beat Trinidad & Tobago (population roughly equal to Idaho).

As much as I (and many others) would like to joke about a retroactive Russia boycott, at least I think this wasn't intended (despite an appalling lack of effort with far too few exceptions).

My social media stream is completely blown up tonight. Something's gotta change.

And it should start with the head of US Soccer and go from there.

Gulati won't go -- much as he should -- for the same reason the NFL keeps Goodell.

They make a ton of money for their respective organizations, and they don't know if they can find another useful idiot who can do the same...

Not making the World Cup will cost US Soccer 10s of millions in lost revenues and sponsorships.

Population has zero to do with soccer prowess. Especially on a given day.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.
